I am in truth, a geek. No, do not even try to conjure up thoughts in your head of a madman biting heads off of chickens and other creatures. With the introduction of ‘artists’ such as Mr. Osborne or Mr. (or should I say Miss) Cooper the idea of such bizarre behavior as being against the normal grain of human society has left the building. For them such behavior has come to symbolize the rebel and the criminal.

Yes, I am a geek. A term that once meant one of the strangest carnival attractions has now come to stand for people like me.

There are three types of people in the world: the geeks, those who don’t think they are geeks, and the geek unrealized (could almost be a poem….crap, it already is).

Obviously you have your preconceived ideas of what a geek is; People love and loathe the geek. We love to see them make fools of themselves like pitiful clowns. We love to make fun of them and make them the butt of jokes and yet we love it when they succeed. We find the story of geeks in love entertaining and heartwarming. We enjoy it when we scoff at their intelligence and yet smile at our own incompetence when we call them boss...or so I've heard :)

I am, no doubt, high on the list of poseurs, and I will be the first to admit it. Information technology applications in financial markets aren’t physics and closed-form solutions; they fit more in the zone of engineers and experimental guys, but they’ve been around forever. At the top of the heap we find Thomas Edison and Tim Berners-Lee, inventor of the World Wide Web. As an experimentalist, I rank way below Edison but way above a time travel guy. I was fortunate to be struck by the heavenly stick with a brilliant idea of how the world can be made to work in the best possible way which turned me into a whopping computer network, a place for both theoretically sound and downright wacky ideas to come alive as programs.

The cliché is not my social adaptability which people usually encounter in their daily humdrum existence.
